I moved to Chapel in in 2004 into IFC'S HOMESTART TRANSITIONAL HOUSING. I WAS ONE OF THE FEW WOMEN WHO DIDN'T RESIDE FOR THE FULL YEAR IT USUALLY TAKES FOR FAMILIES TO GET PREPARED TO MOVE OUT. I WAS DETERMINED AND HAD A LIST OF GOALS WHICH I BROUGHT WITH ME FROM THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER I HAD LIVED IN FOR 7 MONTHS IN LOUISBURG NC. WITH 3 CHILDREN AGES 9, 7, AND 7MONTHS I MOVED OUT INTO OUT INTO OUR APARTMENT WITHIN 2 MONTHS. MY STORY WAS FEATURED IN THE IFC NEWSLETTER. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH MANY STRUGGLES BUT KEPT MY FAITH IN MY CREATOR, AND WAS EVEN AFRAID FOR MY CHILDREN AND I FOR YEARS. GOD HAS TAKEN AWAY THE FEAR AND REPLACED IT WITH A POWERFUL TESTIMONY IF HIS LOVE FOR US ALL. FOR ANY PERSON NEEDING HELP WITH SHELTER, FOOD, CLOTHING, AND OTHER RESOURCES, CONTACT IFC. UNC CHARITY HELPED ME TO GET MY HABITAT HOME
I applied for A home with Orange Habitat for Humanity last year and was denied due to hospital bills, which I incurred, after the death of my son, Gregory. After having grief counseling, many appointments, and no source of income, I could not pay my hospital bill. These bills kept me from qualifying for a home with Habitat. A great person mentioned UNC CHARITY, WITH WHOM I HAD PREVIOUSLY APPLIED, BUT NEVER RECEIVED THEIR CORRESPONDENCES DUE TO NOT LIVING AT ADDRESS WHICH UNC MAILED ME LETTERS FOR ME TO PROVIDE THEM WITH MORE INFORMATION. I APPLIED AGAIN LAST YEAR AND WAS APPROVED FOR CHARITY CARE. This helped pay my old bills, and gave me a reason to reapply for Habitat. I'm grateful. My family and I will be moving into our new home in the Fall of 2017. My Creator made a way for me. Sometimes God's answer is not always NO, BUT BE STILL AND WAIT. HIS TIME IS NOT OURS. IF YOU HAVE UNPAID UNC BILLS, APPLY AND BE PATIENT WITH THE PROCESS.

Reason for my website
Hello everyone, I am Joycec Powell, daughter of the Creator, mother, healthcare worker, and NCCU CRIMINAL JUSTICE STUDENT. I decided to create a website that would provide people with many of the resources which have been of great support to my family and I.
